How to Download Drivers for Your Dell PC / Notebook

ds_dell_logo If you own a Dell computer or laptop, it is safe to say that at some point in time, you will need to get drivers for the hardware. Maybe you've had to perform a fresh load of the operating system and you've misplaced your driver disc or maybe your hardware is running poorly and you're hoping the latest drivers will fix your problem.

KDE 4.0: Add More Widgets for Your Desktop

One of the cool features of KDE 4.0 is the widgets. Unfortunately, when you install KDE, only a few widgets are included. You can get even more widgets to help produce a sexy desktop by doing the following:

OS X: Edit a file using TextEdit as root or superuser

Editing some files on an OS X system requires superuser or root permissions. Typically, this is accomplished using sudo (which lets authorized users assume superuser powers, cape and tights optional) and vi. To the uninitiated, vi can cause intestinal distress and hair loss. An alternative is the use of TextEdit, the graphical text editor application, but under normal circumstances, you can open a system file like hosts but cannot save it. Following the steps in this recipe, you can edit a system file using TextEdit and put off learning vi for another day.
